VACANCIES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

The content of these circular minutes must be brought to the notice of all eligible officers and

employees on your establishment without delay, including those in regional/ District officers.

Institution must notify all candidates who qualify for the posts in this circular minute even if

they are absent from their normal places of work.

DIRECTIONS TO CANDIDATES

[b] Certified copy of highest educational qualifications and ID – (not copies of certified

copies) and registration with appropriate council and driver's license. (if applicable)

[d] Contactable and verifiable references must be included in the C.V

[e] The reference number of the post must be included in the Z83

(f) Foreign health care workers must submit an endorsement letter from the foreign

Workforce programme from National DOH.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST:

• National Diploma/ Degree in Dietetics

• Current registration with HPCSA as a Dietitian

• 4 years post graduate experience as Dietitian

• Valid drivers license

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

• Good interpersonal skills

• Nutritional analysis and assessment

• Counseling skills

• Knowledge of nutrition management and nutrition for people with HIV/AIDS and TB

• Computer literacy

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Contribute to the prevention and reduction of mortality due to malnutrition, nutrition

related diseases, communicable, infections and other diseases.

• Improved nutritional knowledge, behavior, perceptions and attitudes of the community

• Provide periodic report to hospital management.

• Facilitate the implementation of the ARV programme and comprehensive management

of HIV/AIDS and TB.

• Facilitate the implementation of specific interventions e.g vitamin A supplementation

and PEM scheme.

• Assist in providing a balanced and nutritious diet to inpatients.

• Assist with sustaining the hospital status as baby friendly.

• Carry out nutritional assessment of patients and implementation of subsequent

management in hospital and at PHC clinics.

• Nutrition training, education and advocacy.

• Organizing and hosting awareness campaigns

• To offer supervision and guidance to junior staff

• To assist with the department administration function.
