uMhlabuyalingana Municipality likely to be run by the KZN MEC for local government or amalgamated with Umkhanyakude district
UMHLABUYALINGANA Municipality is facing a number of problems relating to service delivery to its' residents. This has been witnessed through the failure to provide water supply to the communities for the past 11 months.
UMHLABUYALINGANA local municipality, face being taken over and run by the KZN MEC for Local Government or amalgamated with Umkhanyakude District due to its failures in managing its finances.

The provincial finance committee and KZN standing committee on public accounts (Scopa) members were told by Treasury Department representatives yesterday that the local council is failing to honour legislation to furnish Treasury with financial records.

They said that the council’s municipal manager Reverend S.E Mangele, hardly sets foot in the council as he works from home. According to the Treasury representatives the municipality has not paid its 80 staff members in October salaries.

This in turn is showcasing the inability of the municipality of its lack of meaningful management and administration which impact negatively to the people of uMhlabuyalingana.
