Waste Management a crisis Emanguzi
More than 40 families survive through collecting food waste in this area. It is said that these families normally come on Mondays from 8 am to 2pm to collect food from this hazardious refuse dumping site. When some were asked why they collect something to eat here they said it is because they are unemployed, do not receive grants from the Gvt since they do not have Identity Documents and it is the only way of their survival. When Manguzi News in pictures asked them as to how would they feel if the dumping zone is fenced and be unaccessible, they simple showed uneasiness because they see hunger looming. Some said if it is fenced social welfare must always supply them with food parcels because they have got nothing to eat.
It is quite discouraging because the Department of Health, our local Municipality, Boxer, Spar and many other institutions around Manguzi are using this site knowing very well that the site is not suitable for this purpose.
The question is " is there any institution that has budget for waste management? if yes, they must act" Should there be any comment about this send your message to party.vumase@gmail.com your comments would be published here.
